profile
(by Todd Hill - Assistant coach) The Titans are led from the back by our outstanding goalie, James Hitchiner. His desire to put his body on the line has saved some certain goals this year, as well as earned him a few balls in the face! The defensive team is led by Troy Tutty, who’s massive right boot clears the area with authority. He is assisted by Callum Bishop, Cameron Austin, Lewis Hubbard and Bayley McFarlane, who all show brutish defence and a willingness to put themselves on the line to save a goal. In the midfield the combination of Sam Head, who shows amazing balance through traffic, and Luke McGlone has the ball pushing forward, and both have great ability to get through opponents. Quinn Porteous and Mathew Robertson have been excellent utilities with an ability to play in all positions. Quinn has a long throw in ability which has instrumental in setting up opportunities, and Mathews casual style always has us with our hearts in our mouths. We may as well put a sign up on the right wing saying “Property of Sam King”, as he has owned the area this year. You can regularly see him storming out of defence, taking on two or three players before setting up some great crosses or going himself as he showed with a hat-trick against Te Puke. Callum Aubrey has the left wing and has made it his own with a big left boot raking crosses into the area, and a great ability to change the angle running forward, putting the opponents off balance. Emlyn Hill and Riley Gardner have proven the perfect foils for each other up front, with Emlyn providing some deft touches and headers to advantage for Riley, who always looks dangerous in attack, and found his radar against the Mount with two goals.
