Away strip. If you are playing either Papamoa or Bethlehem College it pays to take an away strip. You can collect these from the storage room which is immediately on the left as you enter the clubrooms. There should be a board there for recording removal and return of strip.
Coach training - this is the key to your success as a coach, and the success of your team on the field - if you are going to be coaching you child's team for 15 weeks a year for the next five or 6 years, putting a few hours into getting the skills to make it fun and successful is time well spent. No one has regretted going ona coaching course. here is a schedule of training being offer. Remember, all courses are paid for by the club. Please get in touch with Mary-Anne about booking.
To find out what the training is all about please read this document. Please note that all junior and youth level 1 & 2 courses will be paid by the club so ignore the cost figure. Here is a calendar of Waibop course for the year.

We are running our own in-house training - this is not formal but a chance to share both problems and answers. Please come along with any issues you have and also drillls you like using, techniques that work and we can build our capacity as a coaching unit. The first session was hugely successful, we'll let you know when the next is on. If you are short on ideas, here's a few drills you can use
- Garry's favourite warm-up drill - coming soon. Garry's 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 drill - coming soon
- Jon's shoot-out drill - really good drill to get grades 7-10 communicating, thinking about space and creating opportunties, drawing opposition....it's huge! One session of this and Jon's team went from a total losing streak to winning 6-1. Save till the end of training coz the kids won't want to stop.
- Steve's pre game warm-up. An easy drill to set up to get a bit of passing and moving going. Needs 3 kids so you can run it as they begin to arrive. I notice their skills goes up significantly in the few minutes before the game - it gets them practicing ball skills and thinking about where to pass and what to do once they have passed.
A the end of every year we require coaches to fill out a player a assessment form. This will help us form teams for the following year and make the best selections we can. Please download the appropriate form, complete it for every player and send it to Garry. If you don't can't open it (ie don't have Xcel or Open Office) you can download the pdf version, print it and fill it in by hand.
