The Vincent Green 11th Grade Tournament will be held on the the 8th of August 2010 at Pemberton Park. This tournament is held annually to honour Vincent Green, a Blue Rovers G11 player who tragically died in a motor accident.
I wish to invite 11th Grade teams from your club to join us at Pemberton Park on Sunday 8th August for our annual Vincent Green tournament. This year we want to run a tournament that meets the needs of more than just the strong teams that traditionally dominate such tournaments.
We want sixteen teams that will be seeded into four pools and play three round robin games with the top two placed teams moving into the cup competition and the bottom two into a Plate competition. Each group then moves through elimination quarter finals, semi finals and finals. Winners will retain the respective trophies for the year and there are medals for winners and runners up in each competition.
We believe this will allow teams that would not be expected to progress beyond pool play to be given the opportunity to compete with teams of similar ability and play off for medals and a trophy. We all know what a buzz any such success means to the players, coaches and parents. So hoping you can capture the enthusiasm of your coaches and come along for what should be an exciting day of football.
