Welcome To Blue Rovers

The 2010 season is upon us.  While leagues do not start until the 24th April there is a lot going on before hand.  Hope you have kept your fitness and ball skills up and are ready to go.  Lots of things to note so read on....

funday logoSunday 14th February, 10.00 a.m. – 1.00 p.m. at Morland Fox Park.  Ages 5 – 13 with entry by gold coin donation.
This is a fun 4vs4 tournament to get the season off to a start.  Sausage sizzle, good coffee, spot prizes.  No need to form teams or register - just turn up and have fun for a gold coin donation.  NO SOCCER BOOTS - just trainers and shin pads if you have them.

click here  to download a printable registration form.  Please complete it and send it or bring it in.  If you have any problems with it contact the registration officer, Mary-Ann Helem on 578 8932.  FEES MUST BE PAID WITH REGISTRATION.  Players will not be placed in a team or deemed registered until payment is made.  Registration will be available at FUNDAY so come along on Suynday the 14th.
Boys register for the grade that matches their birthday this year, eg if you child turns 9 this year they play in grade 9.  Girls have the option of playing down a grade if they want so if your daughter turns 9 this year they can play in either grade 9 or grade 8

gear Wrightsports will be attending our Registration evenings to sell the “Lotto Approach” Shorts & “Fenix” Socks as packs at a discounted price of $40.  There will also be other packs containing shin guards or all items can be purchased individually.  We want all our teams to take the field looking like a team so please, if you are buying or replacing kit could you buy the the correct brand and style of shorts and socks mentioned above and below.  Wright Sports have offered us a voucher to give you a 15% discount on soccer gear when you visit them.  Click here to download a printable voucher.

Grade 10: 1.00 p.m. - 2.00 p.m.
Grade 11: 2.30 p.m. - 3.30 p.m.
Grades 12/13: 4.00 p.m. – 5.30 p.m.

lease note all 8th Grade players must attend trials for appropriate team placement. All other grades – please attend only if players wish to be considered for A-grade teams.

You may also be required to attend a second trial.  If you need to attend trials but are unable to please phone your grade coaching co-ordinator to advise them of your absence.
Note: Players who played in a Reserve or Social division team last season and were happy with their placement do not have to attend trials.
We will make every effort to notify you of Grade 8 & Up team selections on the website by Sunday 28th March – please do not contact coaches or Committee members about selections before this date.

Refresher on the basics:

Grade 8 Playing Time 2 x 20 minutes each way
Players / Team 6 v 6 (including keeper)
Throw in, corner kicks & offside will apply

Grade 9 Playing Time 2 x 20 minutes each way
Players / Team 7 v 7 (including keeper)
Throw in, corner kicks & offside will apply

Grade 10 Playing Time 2 x 25 minutes each way
Players / Team 7 v 7 (including keeper)
Throw in, corner kicks & offside will apply

Grade 11 Playing Time 2 x 30 minutes each way
Players / Team 9 v 9 (including keeper)

Grades 12 & 13 Playing Time 2 x 35 minutes each way
Players / Team 11 v 11

COMMENCEMENT OF SEASON: SATURDAY 24TH APRIL 2010

FINISH OF SEASON: SATURDAY 18TH SEPTEMBER 2010

School Holidays: No Play on 10th and 17th July 2010

Help needed.
The game can't function without coaches, managers and refs.  Do your bit for your kids and step up and do something to make it all happen.  You'll find it a really rewarding experience.  The club also needs grade co-ordinators for the 8th and 10 grades.  Please get in touch with Garry or Salena if you can fill these roles.  There is plenty of support for all positions and formal courses for refs and coaches.  New members should note that teams must provide their own coaches and refs....someones got to do it - why not you?

Equipment notes:

All players MUST wear shin pads. Players will not be permitted to play without them.
Grades 5/6 will continue to play in sandshoes, with small goals. Again this year,
Grade 7 Mini-soccer players should wear football boots, as we shall be playing with larger goals, and with goalkeepers. All older grades will play in football boots (pimpled soles, blades or studs). In addition to appropriate footwear, all grades need:
Royal blue knee length socks, shin pads and royal blue shorts. Blue Rovers will supply team shirts.
Shorts & Socks Brand names are as follows:
“Lotto Approach” shorts (Junior size cost $30 & Senior size cost $35)
Fenix” socks (cost $15 no discount)
These are available from Wright Sports who will supply all necessary gear and equipment at a 15% discounted price to club members. Please take the Wrightsports Voucher on the website.

It would also be beneficial for players to have their own football. The more time players spend kicking a ball, the better they will become. The club will of course supply balls for team training sessions but if you intend to buy one for your player note the following.
Grades 5 – 8: size 3
Grades 9 – 13: size 4

RETURN OF GEAR & EQUIPMENT

We urgently require the return of any team strips, gear and equipment. Please bring to registration with you or phone our gear officer Dave Molloy 571 0790 to arrange returning them.
